What we believe
Our Doctrinal Beliefs and Distinctives
we uphold the Bible as the authoritative and inerrant Word of God. It is the all-surpassing truth which Jesus has spoken, and continues to speak, into the hearts and minds of His people. If you would like a detailed description of our theological position, we invite you to download and read our Statement of Faith
We are a church that is Bible teaching-focused, Christ-centred and mission-hearted.
- It may help you to know that we are aligned at many points with historical confessions and creeds such as:
- the Heidelberg and Westminster Confessions
- the Apostles’, Nicene and Athanasian Creeds
- the Chicago Statements on Biblical Inerrancy and Hermeneutics.
The following key distinctives sum up our DNA: Bible
We believe that the Bible is God’s timeless and authoritative Word for our world. We thus make teaching and preaching the Bible our primary focus (Matt 4:4).
Jesus We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s Son, the perfect representation of God. We thus have Jesus as the centre of life and worship (1 Jn 5:12). Maturing We believe that being a Christian is a journey to becoming like Jesus. We thus aim to grow and deepen in our faith by faithfully applying Jesus’ teaching to our lives (Phil 3:12-15).
Reaching We believe that Jesus is the only hope for people of all nations. We are therefore passionate about communicating Jesus’ gospel (Good News) to people locally and worldwide (Matt 28:19-20). Church We believe that the church is a unified collection of people who know and love Jesus. We thus take our identity seriously and come together for corporate worship on a weekly basis (Heb 10:25).
